Referrals to Other Community Organizations
FFCS partners with many organizations locally and provincially and knows which of these organizations will respond to specific situations. We receive many phone calls that we refer to agencies across Flagstaff, Alberta and Canada if necessary.
COVID Coupon Programs
When Provincial, Federal funding and local funding (100 Women who care Flagstaff) was available through grants, FIRST applied and was honoured to receive $106,700 over the course of 2020 and 2021 to supply food and fuel coupons to area citizens in need. Gibson Place
This program is funded by Gibson Energy and is designed as a safe place for 12- to 17-year-old youth to hang out in Flagstaff. It is located in the basement the FCSS building at 4809 49th avenue. Flagstaff Rural Crime Watch
A partnership with both FIRST and FFCS, working to make our community safer and stronger by advocating for change within the Justice system so we can close the revolving door of property crime and criminals who continually target rural areas as police response is very slow in our large geographic area. Care-A-Van
This is a program identified by a community business as a need for our community members who don’t drive in larger urban centres. Volunteer drivers are needed. The Van is registered and FCS coordinates insured to FIRST and volunteers.
Men’s Group
We have had two successful intakes in 2019 with 15 participants. We are looking at introducing a Women’s group in the future. We need local facilitators and also a good relationship with probation for these programs to be successful.
Olweus Anti-Bullying Program
An internationally recognized program developed in Europe that is slowly spreading across Canada. The program is not curriculum based but is geared at changing the culture of a School and then working into the community to change the culture of the community. All Schools have had training.
